Timothy Bulone To Show Work At El Dorado Nature Center

LONG BEACH, CA – Long Beach artist Timothy Bulone’s work will hang at the El Dorado Nature Center here beginning Saturday, July 6. Bulone creates each of his images by starting with a digital photograph, then using a variety of computer programs to render them into art that is “more representational, more evocative, and more revelatory” than the original photo, he says.

"Digital art sounds much too cold to me. I think of it as photographic art and of myself as an artist working in photography. I am so thankful that the computer has taken photographers out of the darkroom."

The theme for this exhibition is “Art and Nature,” and Bulone has included some 25 pieces that depict animals, flowers, and sea- and landscapes. One piece called “Leprechaun” features a scene shot at the nature center.

"It’s a perfect place to show some of my favorite pieces. I visit the nature center often. The sound of the wind rushing through the trees, the get-away-from-it-all...

Santa Ana Artwalk Presenting Artist Timothy Bulone

"I come from a line of fine artists, my father and uncles were sculptors, painters, designers and illustrators. I avoided art for most of my life because I couldn't compete with their incredible talents. And then I began a photographic journey that led me here and I claimed the artistic heritage that was always mine," said Long Beach artist Timothy Bulone of his artistic inclinations. "Unlike my uncles, my "originals" are digital files that barely exist in the physical world and have all the mass of a wisp of smoke and yet manifest as these rich prints based on my own memory of places I have been or seen."

One Saturday each month Santa Ana art galleries and businesses in the arts district stay open late while art lovers stroll from door to door enjoying the many varied works of art on exhibit for the occasion. This Saturday, October 6th, the works of Timothy Bulone will be on display in the loft offices of Foodbeast and Rudeluv Marketing at 305 W. 4th Street (just west of...
